Remittances to Tajikistan decrease by 14.8%

AKIPRESS.COM - The volume of worker remittances to Tajikistan for 6 months in 2020 reached $999 million, Avesta reports.
The amount of remittances in this period decreased by $174 million in comparison to 2019, Chairman of National Bank of Tajikistan Jamshed Nurmakhmadzoda told a press briefing.
According to him, the amount of remittances from abroad decreased by 14.8% compared to January-June last year.
The National Bank Chairman noted that the reduction in remittances had a negative impact on exchange rates.
He however announced that the indicators of remittances in June improved slightly.
"Tajikistan received 0.7% more money transfers in June 2020 than in 2019," the NBT Chairman said.
