AKIPRESS.COM - 73-year-old pensioner from Yrys rural municipality, Suzak district of Jalal-Abad region donated his 2 pensions for coronavirus fight.
Kimsanbai Mamatov says he decided to donate money even if he had just bread and tea for food. The pensioner this way wanted to help Kyrgyzstan overcome the current crisis.
"On May 12, I transferred my pension of 6,800 soms to the epidemiological fund set up in the district for coronavirus fight. Then I learnt the dormitory of the technical college is repurposed as infectious disease hospital and this is why I transferred my pension for June as well. I wanted to transfer the pension of my spouse as well, but after a stroke 4 years ago, all her pension is spent for medicines," the pensioner said.
Coronavirus affected economies of the developed countries, every one witnesses changes in life in Kyrgyzstan now, he added.
"In such situation we, ordinary people, should help each other. We need our state. Everyone should be concerned about future of our country. We should unite and fight against disease together to avoid huge losses. Our people may divide into tribes, regions, but when troubles come, we all stand united. This is in our blood," the pensioner said.
His eldest son caught coronavirus and is treated now at a hospital in Suzak district.
"I see as medical workers take care of my son. They work hard without rest. I want to thank medics for their work for people," Kimsanbai Mamatov said.
