President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev celebrates his 63rd birthday

AKIPRESS.COM - President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev celebrates his 63rd birthday on July 24.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev was born on July 24, 1957, in the family of a doctor who lived in Zaamin district of Jizzakh region.
He graduated from the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization with degree in mechanical engineering in 1981. He has the title of Candidate of Science, Associate Professor.
Mirziyoyev entered the political arena at the age of 33, when he became a deputy of the Supreme Council, and later became the chairman of the Credentials Committee.
He was appointed governor of Mirzo-Ulugbek district of Tashkent in 1992.
Mirziyoyev worked as the governor of Jizzakh region in 1996-2001, of Samarkand region in 2001-2003.
He was a deputy of the Parliament of Uzbekistan in 1995-2003.
In 2003, Mirziyoyev held position of the Prime Minister. He was approved for this post three more times in 2005, 2010, 2015.
He was temporarily assigned with the duties of the President on September 8, 2016.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev was elected as President of Uzbekistan, gaining 88.61% of votes during elections held on December 4, 2016. He officially took office on December 14, 2016.
