AKIPRESS.COM - Uzbekistan will organize charter flights to 6 cities in Russia to return Uzbek students home in the first half of August after the air traffic ceased due to COVID-19 pandemic, RIA Novosti reported.
Uzbekistan stopped flights to other countries due to coronavirus outbreak since March 16. Foreigners and Uzbek citizens can return home via special charter flights.
Video which depicts Uzbek students from Siberian Federal area that ask PM Abdulla Aripov to return them home spread across social media sites.
Air company Uzbekistan Airways returned 200 students from Novosibirsk on July 22.
Later similar videos were published by Uzbekistanis who study in Kazan, Simpheropole and Elista.
"According to the order of Special Committee, our students will return from 6 cities in Russia by special charter flights in the first half of August," Ministry of Transportation representative said.
Charter flights will be organized to Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Tomsk, Kazan, Rostov-na-Donu. Flights from Kiev and Cairo are also planned.
Almost 40,000 Uzbek nationals have returned to Uzbekistan since March, 15,000 of them from Russia, Ministry of Transport reports.
Operative team earlier reported that they will organize 18 more charter flights, 7 from Russia, from July 22 to August 2. Elderly people, people in poor health condition and pregnant women, families with children are in priority.
