Ashgabat hosts media briefing on pandemic prevention measures

AKIPRESS.COM - WHO and UNICEF jointly held an online media briefing on effective exchange of information on pandemic prevention on Tuesday in Ashgabat, Turkmen Foreign Ministry said in a press release. Representatives of international organizations accredited in the country, and local media journalists took part in the online briefing.
The meeting started with the welcoming remarks of Head of the WHO Country Office Paulina Karwowska and UNICEF Representative Christine Weigand. In the speeches, the officials highlighted Turkmenistan's commitment to international cooperation in the field of protecting and maintaining public health.
The briefing participants emphasized that having promptly responded to the outbreak of the pandemic, Turkmenistan places particular emphasis on the prevention of infectious and non-infectious diseases, adding that the country's leadership also pays great attention to promoting a healthy lifestyle.
At the end of the briefing, the sides exchanged views on the establishment of a global mechanism for resolving crisis situations. Participants also agreed that he protection of the health of all people is at the core of the sustainable development.
