ADB to support local entrepreneurs and herders in Mongolia

AKIPRESS.COM - Minister of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry Z. Mendsaikhan held a meeting with delegation of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) led by Country Director for Mongolia Pavit Ramachandran on July 29.
Pavit Ramachandran emphasized that the agricultural sector can diversify the Mongolian economy and raise employment and income.
He noted that ADB has already carried out projects in food, agriculture and light industry sectors of Mongolia.
Now ADB plans to focus on supporting small local businesses and introducing climate-resistant livestock and scientific advances into herders' lives.
Minister Mendsaikhan emphasized Mongolia's efforts to produce value-added products in agricultural sector and agricultural commercialization.
He also expressed intention to intensify cooperation with ADB and support the further development of industrial parks, supply of agricultural raw materials and establishment of a storage and protection system.
