AKIPRESS.COM - International Alert in partnership with the State Commission for Religious Affairs launch Swiss-funded project on Covid-19 response with participation of religious communities. The project is aimed to reduce vulnerability of religious communities to Covid-19 in order to mitigate secularism-religion tension in online space and for inclusion of religious communities into broader (secular) society in Kyrgyzstan.
"We see now all confessions carry out a big volunteer job, informing communities, providing humanitarian aid and premises to accommodate observation points. This is why it is necessary to discuss participation of religious and civil communities in preparation for and mitigation of the next wave of coronavirus pandemic," Zairbek Ergeshov, Director of the State Commission, said.
International Alert Country Representative Shakirat Toktosunova said a group of experts will work on issues related to Covid-19 impacts, including spread of accurate information among religious communities and consolidation of the society in response to those challenges.
Information campaign, online seminars will be held to raise awareness about Covid-19 risks. A particular attention will be paid to vulnerable groups.
