More than 525,000 families in Kyrgyzstan receive food assistance amid pandemic

AKIPRESS.COM - More than 525,000 families received food assistance during quarantine, Minister of Labor and Social Development Ulukbek Kochkorov said on August 11. Many people who lost jobs due to pandemic asked food assistance from the Ministry of Labor and local officials, he noted.
The Ministry launched 1227.tunduk.kg system to monitor humanitarian aid distribution. More than 525,000 families received food products during quarantine.
The Ministry also opened deposit account with 17.5 million soms donated. The money was given to local administrations who bought food for those in need.
The Ministry will keep the account and with the help of sponsors and charity organizations will assist people in difficult life situations, Kochkorov concluded.
