AKIPRESS.COM - A bee-keeper from Chak village, Chon Alay district of Osh region, exported honey to Japan and China.
Maksat Alipbekov is in this business for 5 years already. He started with 20 hives and now has 120 of them.
"I saw hives in other villages and understood this business is easier than animal husbandry. I obtained a loan to try it. The result was successful. Our district is mountainous and we have lots of sainfoin grass here, this is why the honey is so good. Up to 40 kilos of honey may be obtained from one hive. Honey may be obtained 4-5 times a year. So, we earn 10,000 soms from one hive. But this year due to rainy weather, bees could not work well. We yielded honey twice only," Maksat said.
"It is much easier to take care of bees than of cattle. All my family is involved into this process," he added.
The family hires 10 people when it is time to yield honey.
The bee-keeper exported 500 kg of hone to Japan and 2 tons of honey to China.
"We take bees to Osh in winter and bring back to Chon-Alay in spring. Now we keep bees in the village. There is no any harm from bees. They may just sting at times. But they say it is even good for health," the 34-year-old bee-keeper said.
