AKIPRESS.COM - The mother of extradited journalist Bobomurod Abdullaev has appealed to President Shavkat Mirziyoev asking for release of her son. The pre-trial restriction measure was replaced with written undertaking 'of proper conduct,' Mass Media Support and Development Public Foundation Chairman Komil Allamjonov said.
Abdullaev was handed over to Uzbekistan by Kyrgyz authorities on August 22.
He was detained in Bishkek on August 9 on request of Uzbekistan, the State National Security Committee of Kyrgyzstan said.
Adbullaev told local media representatives he was detained ungroundedly.
Abdullaev came to Kyrgyzstan in February at the invitation of American University in Central Asia for 4-month training. He could not leave Kyrgyzstan after competion of training due to closed borders over coronavirus pandemic.
Uzbekistan accuses the journalist of attempt on the President and constitutional order of Uzbekistan.
