AKIPRESS.COM - Russian blogger and opposition leader Alexei Navalny who is being treated in Berlin Charite hospital remains in an induced coma. Data collected by German medics indicated that he was probably intoxicated by cholinesterase inhibitors, Charite hospital said on Monday. "Clinical data indicates that Alexei Navalny was probably intoxicated by a substance in the cholinesterase inhibitors group of chemicals, but the research had not yet identified a precise substance," statement says.
Navalny's spokesperson Kira Yarmysh said the hospital confirmed that Navalny was poisoned.
"Doctors at German Charite hospital confirmed that Navalny was poisoned by the substance from cholinesterase inhibitors group. Alexei's in stable state, be he still remains in coma. Outcomes are unclear yet," she wrote in Twitter.
Doctors however proposed that the poison could adversely affect Navalny's nervous system. He is now being treated with atropine antidote.
