Turkmenistan changes hair length on president Berdimuhamedov's portraits

AKIPRESS.COM - The portraits of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov have been renewed in Turkmenistan. This time the portraits will change president's hair length and the color of the carpet in the background, Turkmen service of RFE/RL reported on August 26. All state organizations will change the portraits of the president by the beginning of September. The carpet color should be red. The President's hair is now short, and his hair color has also changed, said the report.
Another correspondent of Turkmen service of RFE/RL reported all institutions in Mary region are ordered to completely replace the president's portraits hanging in the offices by September 1.
The new portrait should have the red carpet behind the president instead of white one. The president's hair is shorter than before, so the pictures need to be updated, said the report.
People have to buy portraits in local printing house, because all stationary shops are closed. The average price of a portrait is around $5.7. Portraits on the streets are also gradually changing, reporter noted.
Berdimuhamedov's portraits are present in all offices and organizations, as well as in public places in Turkmenistan. Officials update portraits regularly, in accordance with the change in president's appearance.
All organizations are obliged to buy and hang new portraits of Berdimuhamedov. Employees of institutions and school students have to buy portraits at their own expense.
The appearance of president Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has changed over the past two years.
Berdimuhamedov's hair suddenly turned gray in August 2018. After this all government agencies, schools, kindergartens and universities were ordered to replace the president's portraits in January 2019.
President Berdimuhamedov appeared on state television, newspapers and magazines with shorter hair than before in the beginning of August. All offices are required to update the president's portraits by early September.
