AKIPRESS.COM - No Kawasaki syndrome was registered among children with coronavirus in Kyrgyzstan so far, Communicable and Parasitic Diseases and Epidemiological Control Department Chief Dinara Otorbaeva said. She said it is wrong to say that children do not contract coronavirus.
"They just have mild symptoms, since they do not have chronic medical conditions and good immune response. Children infected with coronavirus did not develop Kawasaki syndrome," she added.
Kawasaki disease is a syndrome that results in a fever and mainly affects children under 5 years of age. It is a form of vasculitis, where blood vessels become inflamed throughout the body. The fever typically lasts for more than five days and is not affected by usual medications.
