AKIPRESS.COM - Around 450 million soms were paid in July in compensations to medical workers, Deputy Finance Minister Marlen Amandykov said.
He said earlier Kyrgyzstan received financing from the International Monetry Fund for budget support.
A special account was opened for donations for coronavirus fight, he said. "Around 130 million soms were transferred to the account in a month or so," the Deputy Finance Minister stated.
A special commission was set up to distribute the donations. The commission decided the donations should be primarily spent for payment of incentives for medical workers on COVID-19 front line.
"The first compensations were paid in March, making 37-38 million soms in total. Up to 100 million in compensations were paid in April. Around 100 million soms were paid in May-June. July saw spike in coronavirus cases and the health system was on the brink of collapse, around 450-460 million soms were paid in compensations to medical workers," the Deputy Finance Minister stated.
