Kyrgyzstan to continue re-introduction of marals

AKIPRESS.COM - Kyrgyzstan will continue re-introduction of marals from Naryn reserve to other parts of the country.
State Environmental Protection and Forestry Agency Director Mirslav Amankulov visited Naryn reserve, where he inspected marals.
The Agency Director tasked the Naryn reserve to keep the unique ecosystem, flora and fauna and to increase the number of marals living in the Naryn reserve.
The process of re-introduction of marals to all regions of Kyrgyzstan from Naryn reserve will start since next year to preserve this animal and to expand its range.
In June 2018, 9 marals from Naryn reserve were re-introduced to Baltyrkan reserve in Aksy district of Jalal-Abad region for the first time in history of Kyrgyzstan as part of Maral Re-Introduction to Western Tien Shan Project.
The given project was initiated by the NGO Jamaat Alan-Too and carried out by the State Environmental Protection and Forestry Agency with financial assistance of the Cristensen Fund and Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation.
9 marals re-introduced from Naryn reserve adapted well in Avlemit forest range.
Naryn region has 2 nature reserves and 1 national park that occupy 1.9% of territory of the region.
