AKIPRESS.COM - Kyrgyzstan has received $338 million from international financial institutions, Deputy Prime Minister Erkin Asrandiev told a briefing today.
$207 million or 61% of this aid was used. The remaining $131 million is kept in the National Bank accounts, he said.
The used funding was primarily spent for COVID-19 response and mitigation of its effects, the Deputy Prime Minister stated.
"These included financing of the healthcare system, Ministry of Emergency Situations. Besides, a part of this funding was used to provide food assistance to citizens remained jobless due to the pandemic. Another part was spent for purchase of wheat and flour," Erkin Asrandiev said.
Despite public budget shortfalls, pensions and benefits were paid in a timely manner.
