AKIPRESS.COM - Uzbekistan intends to use the biggest sea ports of Pakistan for transportation of goods, the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan said.
Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov held the talks with Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs of Pakistan Ali Haider Zaidi on September 10 as part of the visit of the governmental delegation.
Bilateral cooperation in expansion of transport and shipping cooperation was considered during the talks, including intensification of cargo transportation and implementation of transport infrastructure development projects.
The sides agreed that unimpeded access of Uzbek and Pakistani goods to the markets of two countries will allow to boost bilateral trade.
Pakistani side expressed readiness to provide consultations and technical assistance in finding the best ways for use of the developed infrastructure of Gwadar, Karachi and Kasym ports by Uzbekistan. A group of Uzbek transport experts will be dispatched to Pakistan in the nearest time.
The countries agreed to set up a working group at the level of leadership of the Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan and Federal Ministry for Maritime Affairs of Pakistan, Pakistan National Shipping Corporation for formulation of mechanisms of practical cooperation in the above areas.
