Putin promises $1.5 billion loan to Belarus

AKIPRESS.COM - President Vladimir Putin and President Alexander Lukashenko held talks in Sochi on September 14.
Putin reaffirmed his support to Lukashenko and said Russia will provide $1.5 billion loan to Belarus, Russian service of BBC reported.
Putin reiterated that Russia sees Belarus as the closest ally.
He said people of Belarus should sort out the situation on their own. He supported the ide of adoption of a new Constitution.
The most important part of the conversation was held tete-a-tete behind the closed doors.
This was first meeting of Putin and Lukashenko in person after the Belarus presidential election protests.
