AKIPRESS.COM - The press service of the Embassy of Kyrgyzstan in Moscow issued a statement following the interview of former Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to Russia Raim Attokurov with the Pravda.ru portal, who said "the possibility of joining Russia is discussed in Kyrgyzstan."
The Embassy said there are no serious reasons for making such statements. Raim Attokurov is a citizen of Russia and voiced his opinion as a private actor.
Kyrgyzstan is a sovereign state, subject of international law and full actor of international relations. The Russian language is official, not state language in Kyrgyzstan, the Embassy said.
"The leadership of Kyrgyzstan is firmly committed to protection of sovereignty, territorial integrity and defense of national interests. The Kyrgyz-Russian relations are developing in the spirit of mutual respect, understanding and mutual support. Our nations are bound with common history and Eurasian spiritual values. Kyrgyzstan and Russia are reliable allies and strategic partners," the statement of the Embassy of Kyrgyzstan in Russia said.
The Embassy has asked to refrain from public statements having provocative nature.
