AKIPRESS.COM - Construction of a new road to Kyrgyzstan's biggest coal field Kara-Keche has started since the morning of September 16, Turmush reported.
The special interdepartmental commission visited the site and concluded it is impossible to clear the previously used road from slided rocks and land.
The Ministry of Transport promised construction of one lane of the road will take 10-12 days. Some areas are hard to be reached by vehicles due to rocks.
Around 900,000 cubic meters of rocks and land slided from the mountain on the road.
The first rockfall occurred on September 14 at around 11.30 a.m., blocking 500-700 meters of the Dyikan-Kara-Keche road and damaging power poles.
The massive rockslide on August 16 blocked the road entirely and destroyed power poles.
Several assumptions were made what caused massive rockslide. One of such assumptions is impact of coal mining and heavy rains. Rockfalls were usual in the area before. But the latest rockslide could be also caused by explosion works in the coal field and heavy rains lasting for several days.
