Uzbekistan to set up research center for poverty reduction

AKIPRESS.COM - The research center for poverty reduction and study of population well-being will be set up at the Macroeconomic Studies and Forecasting Institute under the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction.
Establishment of such center was included into the plan of practical actions for economic growth recovery and continuation of structural changes in Uzbekistan in 2020-2021.
The research center is supposed to be set up before October 2020. It will be financed from public budget.
The research center will work on improvement of regulations, will conduct research projects on poverty reduction, will formulate suggestions and recommendations at district and city levels.
The household survey found 583,000 poor families needing financial assistance.
The action plan was developed to provide targeted support to these families and to provide them with jobs.
