Kazakhstan reports bird flu in 5 regions in total

AKIPRESS.COM - Almost 54,000 flu bird cases were registered in 5 regions of Kazakhstan. Vaccines are delivered to those regions and the territory is disinfected, Deputy Health Minister Gulmira Isaeva told a briefing today. "Deaths of poultry were registered in 47 settlements, 26 districts of 5 regions of Kazakhstan. The total losses made 13,926 birds. Besides, 41,000 poultry deaths were registered at the farm in North Kazakhstan region," Deputy Minister Isaeva said.
Poultry deaths are registered in North Kazakhstan, Akmola, Kostanai, Pavlodar, Karaganda regions, she said.
The veterinary control and supervision deparment banned export of poultry from the border regions of Russia since August 4 and then banned export of poultry from several districts and villages of 5 regions of Kazakhstan.
1.4 million doses of vaccines were provided for 4.7 millon birds with 1 million doses expected soon for vaccination of 3.5 million birds more.
The authorities are disinfecting the territory where the infected birds were held to prevent spread of bird flu to other regions of the country.
Owners of died birds will receive compensations in case they apply for assistance and submit all necessary documents.
400 people who contacted with infected birds remain under medical observation.
