AKIPRESS.COM - Voters in Kyrgyzstan are prohibited to take a photo of the ballot with ticked result. Central Election Commission's representative Tologon Aitikeyev explained this prohibition.
Photo of the ballot with voting result violates the secrecy of voting and voters' rights, he said. "This is regulated by the presidential and parliamentary elections law. There is a secondary regulation - provision of the Central Election Commission," Tologon Aitikeyev stated.
A special sign in the voting booth warns against taking a photo of the ballot, he added.
The constitutional law on presidential and parliamentary elections does not directly prohibit a voter to take a photo of his or her ballot.
When asked how the voter violates the secrecy of voting, who knows his or her voting result, Tologon Aitikeyev said prohibition draws on the assumption that a voter may show the photo with the voting result to others.
