AKIPRESS.COM - The assembly of citizen patrol volunteers was held at Spartak Stadium in Bishkek. Representatives of different citizen patrol groups attended the event.
Citizen patrol groups united to defend safety of the city and citizens, Daniyar Terbishaliev, chairman of the union of citizen patrols, said.
"We are beyond politics. We defend the city from looting and disordes, robberies, we protect government-owned and private properties. Citizen patrols are not political organization. We stand for rule of law. Citizen patrol volunteers are true patriots, they help bringing stability. This is our country, this is our city. We should defend it," he said.
"The youth will stand until the end, until the situation returns to legal framework," Askar Almaz uulu, head of the initiative youth center, said.
More than 10,000 citizen patrol volunteers patrolled the city last night, Azamat Ismailov, leader of Araket citizen patrol group, said.
Wrapping up their assembly, volunteers paid tribute to 19-year-old Umutbek, observing one-minute silence. Umutbek died of injuries received during dispersal of demonstrators by riot police at night of October 5-6.
