Current Parliament to remain legitimate until first session of newly elected Parliament - Justice Minister

AKIPRESS.COM - The powers of Parliament terminate since the first session of the newly elected Parliament, Justice Minister Marat Jamankulov told AKIpress when asked to comment on term of powers of parliamentarians.
The Constitution and other laws set the term of powers of the parliamentarians for 5 years.
"The election results were canceled. If the powers of parliamentarians are terminated now and a new Parliament is not elected, the country will remain without the legislative body, but this is impossible. For this reason, the powers of the current Parliament will remain in effect until the first session of the Parliament of the next convocation. The current Parliament remains a legitimate body," the Justice Minister said.
