Parliament Speaker Kanat Isaev to become acting President

AKIPRESS.COM - President Sooronbai Jeenbekov announced today that he will resign.
According to the article 68 of the Constitution of the Kyrgyz Republic, in case the powers of the President are terminated ahead of term, the Speaker of the Parliament performs presidential duties until election of a new President. So, Kanat Isaev will perform presidential duties. He was elected as Parliament Speaker on October 13.
Snap presidential elections will be held within 3 months after termination of presidential powers.
Officials performing presidential duties have no right to schedule snap parliamentary elections, to dismiss the government, to run in the snap presidential elections.
In case Sooronbai Jeenbekov signs the letter of resignation on October 15, snap presidential elections should be held before January 15, 2021.
