Education Minister suggests introduction of competency-based learning in Kyrgyzstan's education system

AKIPRESS.COM - Newly apointed Minister of Education and Science Almazbek Beishenaliev was introduced to the staff today.
Minister Beishenaliev emphasized importance of reforms aimed to improve quality of learning, to introduce competency-based learning at all levels of education system.
The education system should abandon traditional, conservative positions in order to meet requirements of labor market, he said.
"The world trends should be taken into account, novelties should be introduced, reforms and changes should be made to meet nowadays requirements. Our main products are graduates. The question arises now to what degree they meet requirements of the labor market. Digitalization issues remain unresolved. Besides, we need to make our work transparent. We need to provide a complete information to people of Kyrgyzstan on scope of aid provided to education system, ongoing projects and created educational possibilities," Educatin Minister Almazbek Beishenaliev said.
Competency-based learning is an approach to teaching and skills based learning. This is a type of education that creates competencies needed for improved productivity and focuses on outcomes as well as the learners' real-world performance. It represents a set of competencies that define core work practices and standards that are consistent with levels defined within the national and international qualifications framework.
