AKIPRESS.COM - Probe into corruption in customs bodies was launched on October 17, said the Anti-Corruption Service of the National Security Committee of Kyrgyzstan. "It was established that from early 2016 to the present day, the ex-Deputy Chairman of the State Customs Service Raiyimbek Matraimov and other officials of the State Customs Service created a corruption scheme for gaining illegal wealth from customs administration resulting in damage to the state budget in a particularly large amount," the statement said.
Investigative and operational measures to check the activities of the State Customs Service during this period, to calculate the damage done to the state budget and the circle of persons subject to criminal prosecution are under way.
Raim Matraimov is former Deputy Chairman of the State Customs Service nicknamed Raim-Million for his alleged wealth he gained due to corruption schemes in the customs administration. He was sacked in November 2017 over the loss of government's trust.
