Preliminary cause of fire at Chinese gold mining company named

The premises of the company located in Ala-Buka district of Jalal-Abad region caught fire on October 19. According to preliminary reports, welding works caused the fire. The reports that cyanide and chemicals were burning are not true, police said.
Chairman of the Central Committee of the Mining and Metallurgical Trade Union of the Kyrgyz Republic Eldar Tajibayev said the fire occurred during repair of the dry shop, which contains plate press for ore processing. Plate press is an expensive equipment, so the damage may amount to several million dollars, he noted.
No injuries were reported. The repair was carried out by Chinese citizens, he said.
The fire is not linked to recent political events in Kyrgyzstan, it is an industrial accident, he added.
