Former Deputy Chief of Government Staff, ex-financial police deputy chief arrested

AKIPRESS.COM - Former Deputy Chief of Government Staff Bakyt Kalmuratov and former Deputy Chairman of the State Service for Combatting Economic Crimes (financial police) Emil Jamgyrchiev were detained by the antic-corruption service of the National Security Committee on suspicion of large-scale bribery on October 19.
They were taken to pre-trial detention facility, the National Security Committee said. Probe into taking bribery was launched.
In 2019, entrepreneur Emir Emilkanov accused Kalmuratov and Jamgyrchiev of extortion of bribes in response to solving the case of smuggling 80 tons of duck fillet. But Emilkanov ended up getting conditional sentence.
