AKIPRESS.COM - Prime Minister Sadyr Japarov denied allegations that he intimidated Sooronbai Jeenbekov to step down.
In an interview with Al Jazeera TV channel, Japarov said Jeenbekov would run away if he was intimidated and threatened. He said everything was solved through negotiations. "Nobody twisted his arms and legs. We told him that he had no moral rights to continue his presidency. He saw it too," he said.
"Those who say that we threw bottles and stones at our opponents are provocateurs. Stone throwing was organized on purpose to pour dirt on us. There were not only my supporters, there were also supporters of other forces. We all joined together and protested the election results in the first place. Secondly, some demanded the president's resignation. Everything was within the law. Nobody twisted anyone's arms or legs. If it had gone wrong, if they had run away and had not returned, we would have spent a year to return to the constitutional order. It all ended in 10 days, thanks God. We are moving forward, it's not like in 2005 or 2010," he said.
Commenting on the allegations that he is intimidating, Japarov said only those who are involved in corruption are afraid of him.
"Honest people like me and support me. Those who have been robbing the country for 30 years are afraid of me," he said.
