Japarov accepts resignation of Bishkek mayor Aziz Surakmatov

AKIPRESS.COM - Acting President, Prime Minister Sadyr Japarov has accepted resignation of mayor Aziz Surakmatov.
The order approving resignation was signed on October 21.

- ????? ?????? ?????? (@bishkekcityhall) October 22, 2020 3 people took the mayoral seat for the last several days. Aziz Surakmatov stepped down as mayor of Bishkek on October 20 and his duties were taken over by Nariman Tyuleyev, who was appointed by Surakmatov as first vice mayor.
The next day opponents of Nariman Tyuleyev gathered outside the mayor's office joined by Bishkek local council members. They said Nariman Tyuleyev was appointed illegally.
Following the talks with acting President, Prime Minister Sadyr Japarov, Nariman Tyuleyev left the mayoral post on October 22.
The mayoral duties are now performed by vice mayor Almaz Baketayev.
