Constitutional Chamber receives petition questioning constitutionality of delay of parliamentary elections

AKIPRESS.COM - Reforma and Social Democrats parties filed petition to the Constitutional Chamber asking to declare two articles of the constitutional law on parliamentary elections delaying them as unconstitutional, the Constitutional Chamber's press service reported.
The petition was received on October 28. It was submitted to the panel of judges for consideration.
"The panel of judges will decide whether to dismiss the petition or accept it for consideration. In case the panel of judges approves it, the petition will be considered by the Constitutional Chamber," the press service said.
The period for consideration of the petition by the panel of judges makes 30 work days, the period for consideration of the petition by the Constitutional Chamber is 5 months.
This timeframe does not mean the Chamber will make the decision 5 months after.
"The Constitutional Chamber considers petitions within 5 months and may make decision within this period," the press service explained.
On October 22, the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan passed the bill delaying the repeat parliamentary elections until completion of constitutional reform.
