AKIPRESS.COM - President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko urged retired law enforcers to form citizen patrols following the example of citizen patrol volunteers in Kyrgyzstan, Tass reported.
At the meeting on October 29, President Lukashenko said it is necessary to involve citizen patrols into protection of public order, recruiting retired servicemen and providing weapon to them.
Lukashenko referred to Kyrgyzstan as a positive example.
"There was chaos, all law enforcers deserted, no one remained to protect the country. Who took responsibility? Vigilant citizens and citizen patrols. They attracted deserted police officers, security officers, servicemen. They restored order within a day," Lukashenko said.
