Illegal withdrawal of $180 million from Kyrgyzstan to China halted by financial police

AKIPRESS.COM - Financial police officers for Sokuluk and Moskovskiy districts of Chui region uncovered a crime gang illegally withdrawing more than $180 million from Kyrgyzstan to the territory of China pretending to be paying for purchased goods, the financial police said.
The criminal gang brought damages to the state budget (tax evasion) of more than 1.1 billion soms.
On October 29 a man was detained on suspicion of illegal withdrawal of funds to China and was taken into custody.
On October 30 Pervomaiskiy district court of Bishkek put the suspect in pre-trial detention center-1 of Bishkek.
An investigation is under way to find involvement of officials in this scheme and the origin of the funds.
