Kyrgyzstan had peaceful transition of power in line with laws - Japarov

AKIPRESS.COM - Acting President and Prime Minister Sadyr Japarov thanked Vladimir Putin for organization of the virtual summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states. "Despite difficulties, a big work was carried out this year by the Organization. This is proved by a list of documents that would be signed today," Sadyr Japarov said in his contribution during the summit.
"Kyrgyzstan had the developments known to you in October. They were caused by public protests against the parliamentary election results. In response to demands of people, the former President made the decision to resign. I signed the order to assign ex-President status to him. The transition of power was peaceful strictly in line with the effective legislation of the country," Sadyr Japarov said.
He said the situation is stable in Kyrgyzstan now. "All branches of power are legitimate, executive agencies keep working as normally," Japarov said.
"Kyrgyzstan expresses gratitude to SCO member states for support in those uneasy days for the country and people. As acting President I will keep making all possible efforts to strengthen stability and to facilitate socio-economic development of the country," Japarov added.
