Atambayev in courtroom for Koi-Tash events trial

AKIPRESS.COM - Court in Bishkek is hearing today the case of Koi-Tash events of August 7-8, 2019 involving former president Almazbek Atambayev. As attorney Sergey Slesarev told AKIpress, Atambayev was brought to the trial held in behind closed doors.
The case also includes politicians Farid Niyazov, Irina Karamushkina, Asel Koduranova, Ravshan Jeenbekov, Mayorbek Miskenbaev, Kunduz Joldubaeva, Kanat Sagimbayev, Marat Shamenov, Rysbek Karypbek Uulu and others.
The Koi-Tash events saw storming of ex-President Almazbek Atambayev's residence to detain him. The first storming by SWAT soldiers on August 7, 2019 left dozens injured and 1 national security task force officer dead. 6 SWAT soldiers were taken hostage and released the next day. The second storming by Interior Ministry police on August 8, 2019 ended with Atambayev's arrest.
