AKIPRESS.COM - Acting President and Prime Minister Sadyr Japarov signed the constitutional law with amendments to the constitutional law on presidential and parliamentary elections, the president's press service reported.
The law was passed by the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan on 22 October 2020.
The constitutional law was developed with the purpose to create legal conditions for broadening of representation of political forces representing interests of citizens in Parliament through reduction of election threshold and electoral deposit for political parties.
The signed constitutional law abolishes the form #2, which allowed citizens to change their voting address. Voters staying abroad will be allowed to submit the form#2 only.
The electoral deposit will be returned to presidential candidates, political parties running in parliamentary elections in case they obtained at least 1% of votes (no less than 5% votes were required before).
The electoral deposit for political parties to run in parliamentary elections was cut from 5 million to 1 million soms.
The election threshold to win seats in Parliament for political parties was reduced from 7% to 3%.
The law enters into force since the date of its official publication.
