AKIPRESS.COM - The number of deaths from pneumonia grew 2.5 times in Kyrgyzstan, according to the National Statistics Committee.
26,000 pneumonia cases were registered in 9 months of this year versus 24,000 pneumonia cases in 2019, according to the Ministry of Health.
The biggest increase in pneumonia cases compared to January-September 2020 is reported in Bishkek and Issyk-Kl region - 1.9 times and in Chui region - by 11.5%.
In January-September 2020, more than half of deaths (52%) accounted for cardiovascular diseases, 11% for cancer and 7% for respiratory diseases.
444 died from pneumonia in 9 months of 2019, which made around 33% of respiratory diseases. 1,112 died of pneumonia in January-September 2020 or 54%.
9 deaths from pneumonia per 100,000 people were registered in January-September 2019, while in January-September 2020 this figure made 23 or 2.5 times more.
