Number of tourists in winter in Kyrgyzstan increased twice in 10 years, Department of Tourism says

AKIPRESS.COM - From 2010 to 2019 the number of tourists in winter period increased twice in Kyrgyzstan, according to the draft winter tourism development concept of Kyrgyzstan for 2021-2025 developed by the Department of Tourism.
According to the initiators of the draft concept, the increase followed the introduction of visa-free waiver and increasing the number of international flights.
Winter tourism in the Kyrgyz Republic today has ski bases interesting mainly to domestic tourists and off-site skiing opportunities that attract Western tourists. In addition, natural conditions contribute to the development of ethno-cultural and adventure tourism, the concept reads.
Relatively low population density (over 32 people per km2) and a small number of industrial settlements in potential tourist areas allow tourists to be in a wilderness, the concept reads. "This is one of the advantages that foreign tourists note," the concept says.
