AKIPRESS.COM - Germany has handed over 150,000 PCR test systems to Kyrgyzstan, the Ministry of Health reported. The test systems were handed over during the meeting of Health Minister Alymkadyr Beishenaliev with German Ambassador Monika Iwersen, medical mission of Charite University Hospital, Martsinovsky Institute of Medical Parasitology, Tropical and Vector Borne Diseases and representatives of the German Agency for International Cooperation.
The mission is led by Prof. Dr. Jan Felix Drexler (Charité Berlin) and Prof. Dr. Alexander Lukashev (Director of Matrsinovsky Institute). Their visit is financed by Germany.
Training for laboratory specialists and their protection was discussed during the meeting. Experts will provide support to Kyrgyzstan in Covid-19 response through exchange of professional experience with local healthcare organizations.
"The highly qualified experts from Germany and Russia arrived in Kyrgyzstan to provide consultations to laboratory services of the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan. We are very glad and hope this visit would be productive and would make a significant contribution into development of laboratory services. Besides, we express a huge gratitude for provided 150,000 PCR test systems for COVID-19 testing," Health Minister Beishenaliev said.
Germany has earlier provided personal protective equipment, consumables for PCR testing and hygiene items. The emergency department of the hospital in Jalal-Abad for treatment of patients with Covid-19 was inaugurated in early July 2020. Construction was financed by Germany.
