AKIPRESS.COM - Although Kyrgyzstan's public debt has grown, it will go down by 2021, said Chief Economist of the Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development Yevgeny Vinokurov on December 4. Public debt is stable and can be serviced, because it's entirely preferential, he said.
Kyrgyzstan has no commercial lending. The entire debt is preferential under 1% from the Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development, ADB, IMF and others, he said.
The country has a comfortable repayment schedule, he added.
"Despite being big, the debt does not cause concern. Ratio of public debt to GDP is important, but it is necessary to look at the rates and where the funds were used," said Vinokurov.
