Third stage of clinical trials of China's coronavirus vaccine starts in Uzbekistan

AKIPRESS.COM - The ceremony marking start of the third stage of international clinical trial of a new recombinant coronavirus vaccine in Uzbekistan was held today at the Ministry of Innovative Development.
The Ministry of Innovative Development and the Ministry of Health started the third stage of clinical trials of coronavirus vaccine developed by Zhifei Longcom Biopharmaceutical Co., Ltd.
Zhifei dispatched 6,000 trial vaccines to Uzbekistan (50% are vaccines and 50% are placebos), 12,000 PCR tests, 8,000 antibodies tests and related supplies (syringes, masks, goggles, pregnancy tests, cryotubes).
5,000 volunteers were selected for trials. Their information will be kept confidential.
8 specialists of Zhifei Longcom Biopharmaceutical Co. Ltd together with specialists of the Advanced Technologies Center under the Ministry of Innovative Development and Virology Research Institute ofthe Ministry of Health delivered trainings on vaccination for doctors and nurses of outpatient departments, where volunteers will be vaccinated.
Safety of the vaccine was proved during the laboratory tests conducted by the specialists of the Pharmacological Committee of Uzbekistan.
Before start of the third phase of clinical trials in Uzbekistan, more than 20 family members of management of the Ministry of Innovative Development were vaccinated with recombinant vaccine.
