AKIPRESS.COM - Schools for children with special needs will reopen in Bishkek since next week, vice mayor Aijan Chynybaeva said at the meeting of the commission of Bishkek local council for social issues.
"We have many children with special needs, who can't study online. We received lots of letters from parents of such children," she said.
All COVID-19 protocols will be met, she added.
"There are around 15 kids in each class. We will reopen these schools gradually as soon as we purchase all necessary supplies," the vice mayor added.
Over 6 million soms were allocated for reopening of special schools.
11 special kindergartens are attended by 1,336 children. There are 3 schools for students with special needs; 286 children study in 36 special classes, making 2,362 such children in total.
Mainstream schools will reopen depending upon Covid-19 situation, the vice mayor said.
"We do not have enough funds for providing all public schools with necessary supplies. We will distribute available supplies. We would like to reopen schools, but the COVID-19 situation changes rapidly in the country," Aijan Chynybaeva noted.
