Number of migrant workers in Russia almost halved

AKIPRESS.COM - The number of migrant workers in Russia dropped almost twice in 2020, RIA Novosti reported with reference to the Russian Interior Ministry.
Around 6 million migrants remain in Russia now. Usually this figure reaches 11 million.
"From 9 to 11 million foreign nationals stay in Russia every year. Their number was slowly reducing this year and now they make around 6 million (6.3 million people)," the Interior Ministry said.
Around a million of them have permit for temporary residence or permanent residence permit.
Most of registered migrants work on the basis of patents.
"As of November 1, 2020, some 1.3 million foreign nationals worked in Russia on the basis of patents (1.7 million workers last year), 85,000 have work permits. Some 368,000 labor agreements were signed with nationals of the Eurasian Economic Union member states (508,000 last year)," the Interior Ministry said.
