AKIPRESS.COM - Kyrgyzstan registered 3,650 malignant neoplasm cases for 9 months of this year, the Ministry of Health reported.
These cases included 875 in Bishkek, 815 in Chui region, 696 in Osh region, 458 in Jalal-Abad region, 274 in Issyk-Kul region, 190 in Naryn region, 132 in Batken region, 114 in Talas region, 96 in Osh.
A neoplasm is a type of abnormal and excessive growth of tissue. The growth of a neoplasm is uncoordinated with that of the normal surrounding tissue, and persists in growing abnormally, even if the original trigger is removed. This abnormal growth usually forms a mass, when it may be called a tumor.
Malignant neoplasms are commonly called cancer. They invade and destroy the surrounding tissue, may form metastases and, if untreated or unresponsive to treatment, will generally prove fatal.
