Islamic Development Bank approves projects for $509 million in Uzbekistan

AKIPRESS.COM - The Board of Directors of the Islamic Development Bank approved two projects for Uzbekistan for $509.2 million.
A $200 million project will support modernization of several infrastructure and social facilities in Karakalpakstan, Khorezm, Bukhara and Navoi regions.
The Islamic Development Bank will provide $80 million for implementation of the second phase of comprehensive improvement of healthcare services for patients with cancer through provision of state-of-the-art medical equipment for hospitals.
The project will allow to improve diagnostics of cancer at early stages and to improve the quality of treatment of cancer patients: over 1.8 million women will be able to undergo diagnostic screening, 150 cancer patients will receive quality healthcare services.
The Bank earlier provided $37 million for the first phase of the project.
