Monorail transport project presented in Bishkek

AKIPRESS.COM - Bishkek vice mayor for transport and municipal property Aziz Alymkulov presented Bishkek monorail transport system project.
The project is aimed to improve the quality and reliability of municipal transport, to enhance safety of traffic, the mayor's press office reported.
A monorail is elevated railway in which the track consists of a single rail or a beam.
The advantages of such system include carrying capacity, environment-friendliness, comfortability, safety, integration capacity, reduction of traffic, the vice mayor said.
Construction of the railway is planned along the Ala-Archa and Alamedin rivers and will not require dismantling of properties along the route for towers of the single rail.
The monorail will stretch for 37 km. It will have 32 stations, 2 lines. The wagon will carry from 150 to 180 passengers. The railway will be on the height of 5-7 meters above the ground.
The mayor's office hopes to realize this idea as public-private partnership project.
"We realize the project is expensive and long-term, but we need to move ahead and integrate into modern future," the vice mayor said.
