AKIPRESS.COM - 90% of vegetable oil is imported in Kyrgyzstan, lack of vegetable oil will entail a very big problem, said Minister of Agriculture, Food Industry and Land Reclamation Tilek Toktogaziyev talking about food security of the country. Negotiations are underway with other states through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to sing contracts and memorandums to stock up on essential goods for Kyrgyzstan, including wheat and vegetable oil.
"Now in light of the coronavirus, states are working to stock up on essential goods. Why are food prices rising? The states are afraid that there will be no opportunity to replenish their reserves. For our part, there are complications because of the budget issue. But we are finding alternatives," he said.
