AKIPRESS.COM - Deputy Prime Ministers Elvira Surabaldieva and Maksat Mamytkanov held a government meeting on prevention of and fight against domestic violence.
8,337 domestic violence cases were recorded for 11 months of this year versus 7,428 such cases in 2019.
470 committees were set up across the country, which alongside crisis centers work on elimination of domestic violence, Deputy Minister of Social Development Ulan Mamatkanov said.
Deputy Prime Minister Maksat Mamytkanov said the undertaken actions are not effective enough.
"There are hotlines for victims of domestic violence, but nobody remembers their numbers. This speaks of poor awareness of population. Everyone should know the hotline number as all people police and ambulance service numbers," the Deputy Prime Minister said.
Mamytkanov ordered to step up proactive efforts to combat domestic violence. He instructed local administrations and social workers to visit dysfnctional families.
"During New Year celebrations we need to pay a particular attention to childrne of migrant workers who are taken care of by relatives. They are in risk zone. We should make utmost efforts to keep each child under our countrol. We need to act proactively," the Deputy Prime Minister said.
